Strategic Housing Plan Approved by Board of Trustees

The UNCG Board of Trustees has approved the Housing and Residence Life 10 year Strategic Housing Plan. The plan creates a road map through 2020 and facilitates significant growth doubling the bed count to over 8,000 beds by 2020. Download 10 year plan (PDF)

MLK Keynote Speaker Announced

Dr. Mae Jemison will be the keynote speaker for the MLK celebration January 26 at 7pm in the EUC Auditorium. Dr. Jemison, a physician and NASA astronaut, was the first woman of color to travel in space when she went into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor on September 12, 1992.

Off-Campus Housing Tour 2009

Searching for off-campus housing this fall? Take part in UNCG’s Off-Campus Housing Tour 2009. Bus tours will be offered Friday, July 24, and Wednesday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m., and will focus on apartment complexes in close proximity to UNCG Heat Route 73. Tour participants should meet at the Information Desk in Elliott University Center prior to departing on the tour.

EUC Food Court Construction

The EUC Food Court will be closed on Wednesday July 1st and Thursday July 2nd in order to accommodate the change in service providers. The Food Court will reopen July 6th with summer hours through August 14th of 7:30am – 4pm weekdays. Between August the 17th – Friday 19th hours will be 7:30am- 7pm with regular school year hours resuming August 20th.

Suspected case of the H¹N¹ flu

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has a suspected case of the H¹N¹ flu. A male attendee of UNCG’s All Arts and Sciences Camp, located on the campus of NCSU, complained of flu-like symptoms on Thursday, June 25. The camper was treated by a personal health care provider and sent home to recover. Parents of the other campers were notified of the suspected case on Thursday night, prior to picking their campers up at the end of the camp session on Friday morning.

The parents and the campers have been reminded that the best protection against this flu is good personal hygiene. These practices include thorough hand washing with warm water and soap, or alcohol-based hand sanitizers; covering coughs and sneezes with a disposable tissue; or coughing or sneezing into a bended elbow or sleeve; and practicing social distancing by staying home away from others if sick.

Be a talent scout for tomorrow’s leaders by nominating fellow students, or YOURSELF, to participate in the LeaderShape Institute. Each year for the past decade, UNCG has sent 20-25 students to the LeaderShape Institute in Champaign, Illinois. Through a generous gift from the UNCG Parent and Family Council, this year we are able to bring LeaderShape to UNCG. This will enable us to invite 60 students to participate in a LeaderShape experience specifically designed for UNCG students.
