MLK Service Award 2018

The Martin Luther King Jr. Service Award was established in 1986 to honor the memory of the late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 2018 the thirty-second annual award will be presented to a student at UNCG whose community activities and involvement embody the spirit of Dr. King's service to humanity.

Please fill in the requested information about the nominee and the nominator and provide in-depth descriptions of the nominee's qualities and activities that show he/she deserves to be recognized as one who embodies the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s service to humanity and who has made outstanding contributions to the UNCG community in the area of social justice.

Nominee Information

Please provide the following information about the nominee's service:

COMMITMENT TO LEADERSHIP: Describe how the nominee has led by example in advocating for the human rights of a marginalized group or in providing awareness of human rights issues by encouraging harmony and/or promoting understanding among different individuals or groups in the community.
DEDICATION TO SERVICE: Describe the individuals devotion to service. Explain the nature of the individual and the steps he/she has taken to "go the extra mile."
IMPACT OF INVOLVEMENT: Describe in detail how the individual has impacted the community and/or individual(s) through his/her efforts. What has he/she done to "make a difference?"
RESOURCEFULNESS: Describe how the applicant makes use of the resources available to her or him. Resources should be considered broadly and may include but is not limited to fund raising, networking and outreach.
CREATIVITY: Please describe how the candidate uses creative approaches to community service and empowerment.
SUPPORTING INFORMATION: If not already included in the descriptions above, provide any pertinent details of projects or programs (name, date, focus, etc.) in which the nominee participated. What role did the nominee play in the process?
